DAR ES SALAAM Tanzania, Capital Markets in Africa — At the start of the week Tanzania Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange equity trading ended in the south zone. The equity market capitalization dropped TZS 27.8 billion (about US$12.7 million) to end at TZS 21,026 billion relative to a market capitalization of TZS 21,054 billion recorded at the previous trading session.
The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange All Share index (DSEI) declined by 3.19 points or 0.13 percent to end at 2,400.39 points. Also, Tanzanian domestic Share Index lost 42.61 points or 0.94 percent to end at 4,568.68 points.
In term of the sector, the Banks, Finance & Investment sector index sagged by 0.21 percent or 6.43 point to end at 3,093.45 points. Industrial & Allied sector index dipped by 1.24 percent or 76.25 to close at 6,018.87 points and Commercial services sector index increased by 16.74 points or 0.0.43 percent to close at 3,932.32.
Today, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded a total turnover of TZS 1,960.74 million from 324,799 shares traded in 99 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 11,252.31 million from 3,243,573 shares traded in 83 deals. CRDB traded 200,946 shares traded in 56 deals and National Microfinance Bank exchanged 2,417 shares in 6 deals. Mkombozi Commercial Bank recorded at 2,300 in 3 shares. Tanzania Breweries Limited traded 3,452 shares in 12 deals. Tanzania Portland Cement Company traded 1,282 shares in 3 deals and Swissport Tanzania Limited had 320 shares in 4 deals. Tanzania Cigarette Limited registered 111,120 shares in 6 deals.
On the market strength/breath perspectives, the markets breath ended in positive today, with five gainer and four laggards. Jubilee Holdings Limited gained 8.89 percent to settle at TZS 8,820 and Kenya Commercial Bank rose by 2.22 percent to close at TZS 920. Nation Media Group ended at TZS 2,960 after surging by 1.72 percent, East Africa Breweries Limited added 0.75 percent to end at TZS 5,400 and Swissport Tanzania Limited advanced by 0.55 percent TZS 7,300.00. On the other hand, Tanzania Portland Cement Company traded at TZS 3,150 after losing 4.55 percent, Acacia Mining Limited dipped by 2.82 percent to close at TZS 7,240, Tanzania Breweries Limited close at TZS 15,000 after falling by 1.32 percent and National Microfinance Bank ended at TZS 2,800 by dropping 0.36 percent.
